Owingsville Mayor Gary M. Hunt and wife Christina

Welcome, On behalf of the city of Owingsville and all the wonderful residents of Bath County, I want to thank you for viewing our informational website. Bath County has much to offer its residents and to all those who visit us. We are famous for our hospitality and good home-cooking. You may be a visitor when you cross the county line but once you meet our warm people, you will feel right "at home". Beauty is everywhere you look, in the people, the farms, cliffs, lakes, trails and sightseeing is evident. Bath County has much to offer in outdoor recreation and businesses with the Daniel Boone National Forest and the Cave Run Recreation Areas. Our county was formed in 1811 and is located in the Eastern Coal Field and Outer Bluegrass regions of the state. Bath County derives its name from the great number of medicinal springs within its boundaries. The elevation in the county ranges from 590 to 1,388 feet. In 2010, the county population was 11,591 in a land area of 279 square miles. The county seat is Owingsville which has a population of 1,530. Owingsville is graced with a beautiful downtown historic district. Cave Run Lake was built in the early 1970's and extends into Bath County. This man-made lake extends more than 8,270 acres and is abundant in Muskie. It is one of the most beautiful and serene lakes solely because it's natural. You won't be on the lake peering at the backdoors of residents; you are, however, on the backdoor of nature's homes such as the deer, fox, turkey and many species of birds. So, if you are looking to re-locate your residence or business, searching for a stopover during a vacation, or just passing through, I invite you to enjoy the confines of Bath County. You'll be glad you did!

Please spend a few moments here to explore the wide variety of Attractions, Events, Historical Places, Camping, Dining, and Economic opportunities that Bath County has to offer.
